Hi all,
First time pool owner. 27' professionally installed, Legend 8 pool. Quite literally adding water to this new pool now and want to get it right from start if possible.

I have read a lot of information and I am starting to get a feel for maintenance but, I know that the proof is in the pudding when it comes to reality.

What can you recommend that I do immediately (now and over the next two weeks) to assure I start this right?

The installers are more than 2 hours a way so to a degree I am on my own, as I cannot run back and forth to test water, etc. I can send picks if needed, just let me know.

Please guide me, if you would and thank you!

Welcome to TFP! A few pointers to get you going once the water is moving for about 45 minutes:
1 - New water has no stabilizer (CYA), so be prepared to add stabilizer via the sock method for a CYA goal of about 40 ppm to start.
2 - You will have very little chlorine in the water, so be prepared to add 2-3 ppm of liquid chlorine on day 1 of fill. On day 2 and beyond, keep the FC balanced to the CYA as noted on the FC/CYA Levels to avoid algae.
3 - Grab your water sample and test the pH; adjust anywhere between 7.2 - 7.8.

You can test TA but it's not critical quite yet. Post later and we can see. CH doesn't really apply to a vinyl pool, so no need to worry about that.

Be sure to update your signature now. Include all pool and equipment details, and also the test kit you are using. That is very important. If you are on a well, list that too. Use the PoolMath APP to help you with dosage amounts.

If you have any questions, post your test results and we'll help.
