Boric Acid Prices

Wanting to get 75 lbs of boric acid. No free shipping at Dudadiesel, where I got it a few years ago. Here is what I have found, calculating the most cost-effective sizes from each site and the lowest cost shipping to my home zip code in Missouri, 64801. I also called the local farm supply stores and couldn't find anyone selling it in quantities bigger than 2 lb bags. I calculated the amount of Borax and Muriatic Acid to see if it would save me any money, and it would actually be significantly more expensive than getting the boric acid shipped. Does anyone have any info on more cost-effective sources or any current sales offering free shipping?

$2.13lb at Farmer Boy
2x $69 per 50 lb bag
$75 shipping

$2.19lb at Duda Diesel
2x $92 per 55 lb bucket
$58.00 shipping

$2.86lb at Bulk Apothecary
$110 per 55 lb bucket
$79 shipping

$3.00lb at Walmart (Florida Labs)
8x $30 per 10lb bag
free shipping

$3.58lb at The Chemistry Store
2x $92 per 55lb bucket
$210 shipping

WOW! Those prices are shocking. Why are you using it? Do you need it for pH control, or for comfort? Salt can also be added to water even without salt systems for increased silky feeling water. Perhaps that's cheaper for you?

I've often wondered how your pool was doing? It was such a great build to follow. :)

I have galvanized metal pool walls, so don't want to increase salt and risk rust. Enjoyed the borate benefits when I added them a few years ago, didn't keep up, and just shocked at the prices.

Duda is still basically the cheapest when shipping is involved. Bulk apothecary used to only have powdered now it doesn’t say what it is. Some have reported it’s more granular now. Powdered is a mess!
The cheapest route is picking it up locally as shipping is the major expense.
My friend drives a truck through Alabama daily so I have thought of asking him to pick up @ duda for me.
There’s also the laguna clay company (a potter’s supply) in florida- they have the cheapest price per pound if you live near there.
I’ve called every co-op, ag & chem place around & no one sells it locally here which is surprising because we have alot of chicken farms & such.
