Yesterday in Pittsburgh we had some extremely heavy rain and storms. My swg pool is a disaster this morning, with a lot of leaves and sticks. I had to drain some water out because the rain filled the pool to the coping (probably about 4"). This morning, ph is 7.8, salt level dropped 200 ppm to 34000 ppm, chlorine is good at 5 ppm, but the pool is slightly cloudy and my borates shot up from 50 to 100 (test strips)! What could cause my borates to spike? I didn't think rain would do it, and I actually expected them to drop because I drained about 4 inches. Bad strips?
