I am building a pond out of cinder block that has a solid concrete floor. All the cells will be filled, it’s inground, and has rebar everywhere. I too am considering tile for the whole thing. It’s basicly 9x7 feet and 3 ft deep. I am looking at a 12”x24” porcelain tile that is impervious, less than .5 absorption. Frost resistant etc.
So here is the thing I'm ready to waterproof and seal the block and trying to decide what to do that with. I looked at rubber liners; they seem to be much better than vinyl. Also looked at rubber coatings that can be done in different colors... they’re expensive. One reasons I don’t think I can just go with plaster is that this pool/pond has to be safe for fish. What do folks here think? Can I go with tile?
Also one reason I don’t really want a liner is that I have stone wall that is part of this. Pics below. Ps. Wayfair is a good place to find tile if that’s the way you want to go.
