I'm fairly certain I have black algae but wanted a confirmation. My pool water is always crystal clear, but somehow this managed to happen. I think I know how to start tackling it. I'm going to start now, but I was wonder if it is easier to get rid of in the winter time when the chlorine demand is less? Can it cause any real damage or is it more of a nuisance and drain on water chemistry? Thanks for your help.

Kill it with SLAM. Do not let something like that continue to live in your pool all summer while you are swimming. It will eat up your FC and could lead to many other problems.
