We didn't lose electricity during our crazy heat this past summer, but I expect that, too, is in my future. I have plans for a whole-house gennie that will cover that contingency. Of course, I'll need a backup gennie, too! Yikes. When I discuss prepping, I always have to preface it by admitting that I just can't afford to do what it really takes. So I have to settle for a subset, but one that maybe all of us should have, at least to the extent logistics and budget allow:Yeah, where I live, too. But then the power would go out also, and the backup pump wouldn't run anyway.
Not to mention that those of us with auto-covers couldn't open the cover in such an event, even to brush manually.
Pessimist? Me?
- Food and water for a month+
- Medical supplies
- Emergency radio and lighting
- A heat source
- Some way to heat food and boil water
- Some way to generate some amount of electricity
- A plan to keep the pool sanitized
And the most important commodity of all?
- TOILET PAPER
Three separate stashes:
- One to use
- One to hide (I'm determined to be the last one with tp!)
- And one to barter with, to trade for whatever I forgot in the list above!!
