Hello,

My name is Kevin and my wife and I are starting the process to design and bid for a new pool, cabana, and decking in our back yard. I have selected three PB with reputable reviews on line and with the BBB. I have talked with two of the owners directly, and will have the 1st on-site meetings in the next few weeks. I want to start the process to have a pool ready for next spring.

Need any tips / suggestions for:
1. Things to ask
2. Things that I should look out for
3. Equipment that I should get
4. etc

This is already a difficult process, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Bids need to be very specific regarding the exact equipment that will be used. Many times quotes will say 1 1/2hp pump, 300k btu heater, etc. There are significant differences between what you might thinking you are getting vs. what arrives on-site. For example, someone I know had a contract like that, the equipment installed met the "letter" of the contract but not what there were told "verbally". Lowest cost equipment that they could find vs. quality stuff that will be reliable over time.

If you can be specific as to everything you want, equipment, finishes, tile, coping, etc then you can share with potential bidders and actually do some apples to apples comparisons as well as assure you end up getting what you think you were buying.
