Thank you everyone for your replies! Still looking for the answer to the question to the below questions.
How long after the shell is shot should I wait to apply? Also, any special surface prep you recomend?
Most PBs will require a new pool shell to be kept moist/waters for a minimum of 21 to 28 days so that the concrete can cure and reach maximum compressive strength. Most curing will happen in the first 7 days or so but the curve has a long tail and 28 days seems to be what most PBs will do. I wouldn’t touch the shell with anything until AFTER the curing is complete.
ASR is a slow process so you won’t see anything happen in those first 28 days. As stated, it is up to the concrete supplier and the shotcrete contractor to ensure that the cement mix is properly formulated and that all aggregates and admixes are appropriate and meet industry standards.
