Our pool was completed last August. It came with an Aiper Seagull Pro robotic cleaner. We've had issues with the device, and my experience with Aiper customer support has been very disappointing. I wanted to relay those experiences here, and possible get some reactions and maybe advice for a better robotic cleaner to eventually replace this one with. FWIW, we very carefully maintain our pools chemistry. It is always infallibly sparkling clean.
I normally just use it on bottom-only mode. I brush the sides and bottom myself about once a month. It really does a nice job of cleaning, but since we got it, it's been leaving black skid marks on the white plaster, especially around the edges where it turns around, and on the lips of some steps. Pics attached. Also, the last couple of weeks it hasn't been stopping near the edge when the battery gets low; instead, it just stops wherever it is, sometimes several feet into the pool. The response from Aiper:
1. Re: the skid marks. The tires and rollers can oxidize over time and may need to be replaced. Only a few months old and already need to be replaced? I notice they didn't offer to replace them on warranty. Then, they cautioned me about using "corrosive pool cleaners" that could damage the unit, and I was advised to "change the water and see if the problem continues." I don't think so. And as if draining and re-establishing the pool were a trivial matter....
2. Re: not stopping near the side. This is reportedly caused by the basket being dirty or full. Use a brush or high-pressure water hose to clean it. Of course I empty and clean it with the water hose; what does this have to do with it not stopping near the side?
3. If these don't work, consult the owner's manual for further suggestions. There is NOTHING in the manual about skid marks on the pool. So that's it. I just use it because it came free with the pool. Otherwise, I'm done with Aiper.
