Hello everyone, I am new here and just joined. I have an above ground pool with a deck built around it. I keep the water super clean and treat and vacuum regularly. It is clear with no sign of algae. I noticed a few backswimmers and have been bit in our pool. I have fished them out and killed them in a bucket with water/oil. I have scrubbed the walls, the floor, and just slammed the pool for three days. Then saw another one, (there are not many) a one or two at a time kind of thing. Our family doesn’t want to swim with these things. So I have this beautiful, clear pool and no one’s swimming. Any advice is appreciated. You might do a search on the forum for backswimmers. Someone had suggested putting in a little dish soap. This alters the water enough (surface tension)that they can't form a bubble to breathe then they drown.

It's that and fishing them out.
Nothing you can do to prevent them getting in, unfortunately. Pool chemistry won't make any difference. I get a few every year.
