Automatic vacuum with floc?

Wasn’t sure which board to post this on...

last year we ended up having to flocc our pool to get it to clear. My question is - can you use an automatic pool vacuum when vacuuming up the flocc or will it move too fast and not be precise enough? I am hoping to buy one soon and wondering if it can make the process a bit less painful.

Thanks!

Absolutely not. Floc must be carefully vacuumed out to waste. Every inch of it must be vacuumed out slowly, carefully, and to waste. An automatic vacuum does none of these things.

Also, you never need to floc your pool to clear it up.

That’s right, I forgot about the vacuuming to waste part. Sorry for the silly question.

We have a sand filter and last year we just could not get rid of the cloudiness over a 4 week period even though levels were all coming back normal and filter seemed to be working fine. I added DE and used skimmer socks. I am doing the SLAM
process right now to try to avoid flocc but also trying to avoid prolonging this for weeks like last year so preparing in case.

i think the reason we have this problem is because even though we winterized and got pool pillows to keep leaves out we have a lot of trees and foliage around the pool that ends up in there.
