We have a one year old fiberglass pool that I closed Oct 13. Just opened it today to check on water and add some noodles to the skimmers (Gizmos were already there) as temps will be single digits in next 2 weeks.

On opening the pool was full of leaves and pine cone needles (Dang neighbors trees). I thought an auto cover would keep the water cleaner of debris. Not so ?? Just the way it is?

Leaves and debris seem to find a way under all types of pool cover.

I get leaves in my pool with a solid pool cover.

The cover vault where the cover lives when the pool is uncovered has debris so when you close the cover the moisture on the roll while it's deploying picks up the the debris and drops it in the pool. Best time to clean out the vault is when the pool cover is on giving the most access to clean it all out.

Wind also blows debris under the cover around the edges sometimes. I use a leaf blower to keep debris off the cover but I can watch a few things get blown in underneath.
