Hi All
We have an Astral IXI200N Natural Gas Heater which has had its thermal regulator replaced 4 times in 2 years (all under warranty).
We again are getting the Fault High limit error. Looks like number 5 is required.
This one did last the longest - was replaced 12months ago.
The techs come out troubleshoot, make some adjustments but the heater constantly faults til the thermal regulator is replaced.
Is this a common occurrence for this heater?
Can someone advise what the the buttons are to clear the error - I thought it was Spa+Pool+Menu but doesnt seem to work. Was told what there were in the past during troubleshooting.
Pool is a 36000L fibre glass Magna Pool

Geday fredstar and welcome to TFP,

I’ve got nothing, I don’t do heaters, gas or electric and haven’t read any stories of the same fault.

Five times is odd for the same problem. Even if you’re running it at the top of its range it should do better than that. Sounds like it is not fit for purpose.

The Astral IxI200 looks like the Jandy JXI200 heater.

See if the attached workbook helps.

The JXI200 High Limit error will clear when the switch cools and resets closed.

Test the high limit switches using a multimeter and confirm they are closed when cold.

Tech was out today.
Failed high limit sensor.
Also replaced another sensor near it as they come in a kit.
Thermal regulator was ok until he tested it in hot water and the washer broke., so it was also replaced.
A non return valve was installed between the acid doser and gas heater.

This is to prevent acid if dosed just before the pump turns off from settling at a high concentration inside the heater causing corrosion.
Does this sound ok?
