Ascorbic acid treatmetn for salt water pool how to bring chlorine to 0?

Hi Everyone!

Quick question. I did the vitamin C test for Iron staining. That's my issue. Then read the article about the ascorbic acid/sequestrent treatment. Got it. One question. How do I take my chlorine to 0 or thereabouts with a salt water pool? Just shut off SWG and leave filter running for a few days? Probably a silly question but Im asking anyway! I have black spotting on my plastic steps so I expect that to get worse with low chorine I'm thinking....

Yes, turning the SWG output to 0 or turning it off will do it. If you only have a few spots of stains you might be able to use the AA in a sock to spot treat the stains and leave the SWG alone.

Thank you for your reply! It's covering over half of the liner so will go through the whole routine. Too bad there isn't something like a dust mop infused with AA that you could 'brush' the pool with! Haha!
