So I have very bad stains that I thought were black algae.

I shut the auto chlorinator off today since I am very high on chlorine right now.

I now have two of the CuLator Ultra 4.0 and 8 lbs of ascorbic acid coming.

I have a 17,000 gallon pool.

I will use 2 lbs of ascorbic as I walk around the outside of the pool with the filter bypassed and on recirculate. I will then wait a 1/2 hours, and try another 2 lbs.

I am looking for recommendations on what to add after the ascorbic and before I put the filtering back on.

Important to know where the stains are coming from...

Copper from bad pool store products?
Iron from well water?

You've got a lot going on in that pool; I think several different types of stain. You'd really benefit from reading the basics in Pool School, and also look at the TFP methods that work so well. Ditch the chlorinator. Self-testing, etc.
