Hi, I recently followed the iron staining AA procedure with great results. I understand that I need to add sequestrant monthly moving forward. I live in the Northeast US and close my pool from October - May. How should I be planning to manage sequestrant during the offseason? Heavy load at close? Maintenance dose at close? Full initial dose in spring? I know I'm getting ahead of my self but like to plan ahead and get supplies early. Thanks in advance for your time and look forward to the knowledgeable responses.

When closing and opening you want to add the full start-up dose of sequestrant. A full dose at closing will help to keep metals in solution and the colder temps will help prevent the sequestrant from breaking down. In the Spring the full dose is needed as you will get lots of rain/snow-melt dilution. In fact, one of the best ways to reduce the metal load is to capture as much rain and snow-melt as you can. It's the cleanest form of water you can add to your pool.

Thank you for the replies. JN, thanks for the clarity on how much to add and when. Kato, I'm planning on a new liner within the next year or two if the budget can support it. Will obviously be swapping water when the time comes :)
