Are these rust stains?

I just took off one of my spa jets and found that it's completely coated brown along with the inside of the pipe. There is also brown discoloration on the jet face, but only on the bottom. The top seems to be bleaching off from the sun. The color scratches off with a fingernail. I'm soaking it in CLR as we speak.

The plaster also seems to be degrading in spots, which is unrelated to this post, but some spots have pinkish brown stains inside them. See the pictures below. I'm not sure these are the same thing, but I'm at a loss. Are these rust? Something else?

Edit: CLR is removing the stains from the jet, so I appear to have my answer there. Is the staining on the plaster likely to be the same?

That's the conclusion that I've come to as well, but I have no idea how iron would have gotten in. I'm on a municipal water supply and I don't add anything other than salt, CYA, and muriatic. Maybe I got a bad batch of salt?

Even your muni water will have some iron in Texas. Any places you can see inside the PVC piping? I bet you'll see brown staining there as well.

Yeah, very brown inside the spa jet pipes. So should I be adding a chelating agent when I add water?

I don't think so - it's normal for it to precipitate to the plastic. If you start to see staining the pool, then it'll be time to replace some water as you don't want to just sequester constantly. But I doubt you'll ever get that far on municipal water.
