Has anyone repurposed the solar temp input to read a temperature input from another location? I would like to add a water temp sensor to the outlet of my heat pump so I know the water temperature delta. Is this possible or would it screw up the contorl function of the heater control? I am hoping this can be used as a spare analog input so I can read my heater temp output temp.
Thank You

I'm not sure how to actually USE the solar temperature reading, but you can see the value of it from Menu > Diagnostics > Solar Temp on an Easytouch. Is that what you're looking for?

Jeez, I just saw that your heading says Aqualink... I saw Pentair in your signature and assumed... you had an Easytouch ;)

Sorry Ogdento, I have my profile up to date but not my signature. I just updated my signature with all the updates/replacments I have done recently and my pool contol system is a Jandy Zodiac AquaLink RS

There is no menu item that allows you to see the "solar" temperature. The system just extrapolates the need to actuate the solar valve from the two sensors (water, solar), the heater temp setpoint, and whether the solar heater is enabled or not.
Pentair makes a crazy expensive analog thermometer that could be installed in a T (2" x 1/2"FIP x 2") that we used to install in solar plumbing, both the solar input and output lines. Customers liked seeing the delta until a $10.00/each thermometer became $50.00/each. Now they are more.

Use the air temp sensor? I have 3 sensors: water, solar (input for deciding whether to turn on solar heating, but unfortunately not displayed on app), and air. Air and water display on the app.

My air temp sensor just hangs in my pool equip room, not really helpful. I'm in the process of moving my air sensor to the same location as the solar sensor.

Air temp sensor is used for freeze protection. If placed where the solar sensor is, the equipment may experience freezing temps well before something higher up. Not so much an issue in a room, but just be aware.
