After 6 weeks, concrete crew finally came to get my apron done. I was anticipating a mess but wasn't expecting the pond water we now have.

Will be running VSP at 3400 for next few days. Plan to stop and clean filter every 8 hours. Monitoring pressure before it gets high. My M400 runs about 15 minutes before so full can't climb walls anymore. So know I have few days of cleaning/filtering.

On to balance... Installer recommended we stay on chlorinator (3 inch pucks) until apron completed and then they'll swap out to the SWG (that's scheduled for Saturday). Have been using stabilized pucks and been running the temporary Hayward at 2.5 setting.

Took baseline chem yesterday and pool was all WNL. Just took new readings and have some questions.

FC (with FAS-DPD) was 2ppm. CC came out to 0.2 so assuming I can super chlorinate? But will that do anything for clearing concrete dust?

pH was over 8 and alkalinity was 120. So assuming I should drop some MA tomorrow? Acid demand on Taylor was 5 drops or 1.5qt need. I know concrete is alkaline so do I get all cleaned before treating?

Pool was filled with soft water and our well is low mineral when do top offs... So my calcium is slightly low. But concrete has calcium so also assuming wait until cleaned before treating?

Finally the CYA. The black dot disappeared before I even got to the 100 line. But the test strips show 30-50. Do I wait until get the SWG connected before addressing? And why would the drop test show so cloudy compared to using strips??

Did I cover everything to receive any type of assist on next steps?

Not clear. What is your CYA? You should raise FC with liquid chlorine and maintain with SWCG. You want to maintain proper FC for your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels

You can reduce pH with Muriatic acid. Use pool math to figure out how much to lower to 7.6-7.8. PoolMath link-->PoolMath

Calcium is not necessary in a FG pool, unless you have a tile line or a heater, the 250 is an appropriate minimum.

It may be that all the concrete dust is interfering with the CYA test. Is this new or old water? Is this a new build? How old is the water and how were you chlorinating before? What was your CYA before the deck was installed?
