Hi there just bought a Maytronics m600. It appears like the swivel electrical cord is one of the parts that wears out - any tips to extend its life / protect it

I have an older pool with concrete coping so I’m a bit worried as well if it drags on the side as it moves around I was thinking about sliding something over a portion of the cord

I’m assuming hosing off the cord after use is good practice to get the pool water off it

I am on my 7th season with my Polaris. So far the only issue is the plug itself needed to be reseated on the end that plugs into the controller (common issue with Polaris).

You should be fine with the coping since you should be dumping the entire cord into the water. The cord should not drag on the coping.

Rinse like you suggest and store out of sunlight!

Thanks I’ll have to use an extension cord so I can get it closer to the edge of the pool that way the cord is completely off the coping…I also brought a cover so when it is sitting out of the pool shed in the sun (while running) I’ll have it covered

The swivel is known to develop leaks and suffer from corrosion. The only way to know is to take it apart periodically. If you’re a handy person, or know someone that is, you can disassemble the swivel every season, check the connections, clean up any debris and then lubricate it all as well apply dielectric grease to the contacts where the wires are fixed. Preventative maintenance is all you can really do for the swivel otherwise it will just randomly fail at some point with the robot not working and you’ll be playing 20 Questions trying to figure out what’s wrong.

The cord should have enough length so that what the robot needs is floating in the water. My pool is 42'x16' and the plug is 8' away from the water and I have plenty to plug in with all but 8' of the cord in the water. I put the cord in the water about 3/4 the way to the deep end.

I think this will work itself out the first time you use it you'll see what happens. ;)
