Ants in the Base

Hi,

I’m almost complete leveling my base for 24 foot above ground pool with a dished out middle.

There are tons of ants popping up in the ground. Because of the dished out center I can’t use a gorilla pad. Should I be concerned at all with this? I’ll be putting 3 inches of sand above the ground?

I put down DE, but it didn’t kill them. Mostly small red ants. I wouldn’t have thought it would’ve been a problem, but I saw thread where ants ate through their liner!?

if insecticide before I put the sand down is the answer any recommendations on the product?

Use a granular insecticide that lists ants. Oil based liquids can affect your liner. Also treat around your pool however often the product u use says. I treat around my pool For bugs & weeds just like i do my house @ the beginning of every season.

Looks like instructions call to water in to the ground. Do you think I should just do that a couple days prior to putting sand down or doesn’t matter?

I would since u have active insects. it just takes a bit of water & should dry quickly.
