And another first test…

Thank you. What speed were you running when you were running before now? Do you know if it is wired 110 or 220?

This calculator indicates that at 1950rpm, it uses about $2/day running 24/7. At full speed, 3450 it uses $5/day running 12 HOURS per day.

I would set this up to run 1950, 24/7. It will likely be the equivalent of 2, 150 watt light bulbs (given my read of the manual).

It was running at 2000 rpm. I believe at 110.
Ok, so then, given the 1950 for 24/7 vs. 2000 for your reduced run-time, from a $ perspective makes sense to run a reduced schedule.

Use the "Effects of Adding" in pool math with the .93 for the output that I gave you. You can play with % and runtime to get the fc you need to keep FC stable.

I would set it up to run during the day, so that your low point for FC is first thing in the morning. If you add at night, FC usage is during the day, your low point would be the end of the day. Even that is personal preference. Just watch your end FC daily for a year and you will get a feel for run times and percentage to keep your FC away from minimums. I think you get it and have the basics down.

You got this...

Thank you for all your help! It is much appreciated. I set the RPM to 1950. I did the effects of adding calculator and turned the SWCG down to 20% running for 20 hours. As the temps warm and the kids use the pool more frequently, I will adjust. To start I will add some CYA and also work on the pH. Does adding the MA take as long to register as the CYA?

MA needs 15 mins with good circulation.

Bingo. Regular testing is KEY. You'll spot any red flags long before they are emergencies. Your pool will tell you everything it needs, if you listen. It will not listen to you no matter how hard you try.

No. With pump on you should see change in 30 minutes. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. Pour down wind. Pour acid into water. Pencil stream slowly over the return. Swirl with a pool brush.

Or just go to pool store and ask for one?
For once, that's not a bad idea. Most of the ones at HD/Lowes are half strength and you need to buy twice as much.

Any paint store would have it as well, or the paint aisle in the hardware store.

You will be so proud of yourself when you are the Queen of your pool and master of your domain.

I am already the master. 😎😎 Let me be clear...not of the pool, just of getting sh it taken care of. In due time the pool will be added to the list.
