Looking to get our pool closed ASAP, anything I need to add? Not sure how closing goes vs regular balancing. Thanks!

PH - 7.5
FC - 4.0
TA - 100
CH - 150
CYA - 30
Salt - 3200

These should help...

Thanks for the reply, I should have clarified - we are having someone else come close our pool, we just wanted to make sure it was ready for closing. We don't exactly get a date when they come, just a week window so the directions in the link you provided would be tough to follow. Thanks!

Without knowing how they close (what chemicals they are going to add), it is difficult to give advice.

Assuming that they will add NOTHING, then the best you can do is raise FC to SLAM level and keep it there until they come to close.
If you can get at least one day notice, then you could add polyquat 60 (no other algaecide) 24 hours in advance and run the pump for 24 hours.

If they come in and add a bunch of a chlorinated product, then it would not be safe to raise to SLAM level in advance.

Again, without knowing what they are going to add, hard to give you solid advice.

Maybe you can ask them just to close the pool and not to add any chemicals...then you can do as I've said in sentence 2 and 3 of this post.

Okay great, thanks! Is FC and the polyquat 60 really the only things I need? Last year when we closed we were told we needed to raise the TA and CH which was slightly low but nothing crazy.

There is no reason to raise TA...that will only increase pH rise. A bit too late now, but lowering TA to 60-80 will help lower pH rise over the winter (and in general).
There is no need for calcium in a vinyl pool, unless you have a gas heater...which you don't show in your signature.

how do I determine how much to add?
Follow the instructions on the bottle for maximum dose and your pool volume. Only use Polyquat 60.
you want this active ingredient -
Poly{oxyethylene(dimethyliminio)Ethylene (dimethyliminio)ethylene dichloride}; 60% concentrate in water

If you are going this route, then confirm with closer not to add any other chemicals.

Sorry to hijak this thread but shouldn't the OP keep the FC at half SLAM level if he/she attends on adding polyquat the day before closing but doesn't know the exact closing day yet? It says on here that you should add polyquat at half SLAM level. I added polyquat at full SLAM level once and it lowered the FC to really low levels so I started closing at half SLAM level instad. The pool service we use only gives us a 24 hour notice before they close our pool so I maintain FC at half SLAM level until I receive a text that they are coming the next day. If I want to do a SLAM before closing, I do it at least 2 weeks before we anticipate closing so the FC has time to go down to half SLAM level.

You are correct, I misspoke. For clarity, 1/2 slam level is 1/2 way between normal FC for your CYA and SLAM level for your CYA. Good catch.
