I knew before the rainy season started back up I needed to clear out my creek. Also before critter / snake / flea & tick / poison ivy / mosquito season.

There's so many great critters in our neighborhood. We've got another pair of red tailed hawks in our tree reusing the nest from last year. There's a group of 5 turkeys, tons of mallards, plus owls, turtles, frogs, fish, tadpoles, and even a few good sized water snakes. One huge snapping turtle is around someplace. The leeches gave me crawling skin even though I worked in waders. There's a pair of dogs from a few streets over that are ultra sweet and love to play and stop by every few days for a play date with our pupper. We've unofficially named them "Thelma and Louise."

But mostly, I gotta send a shout out to my boy Frogo Baggins...

I LOVE all of your critters! We have otters that come play in the pond every once in a while.

NICE job!! Did the fire pit thing come out of the creek? What is up with the wooden box? Do you have a gate in your fence to allow access to it? What a wonderful gem you have there!

Is that wolf dead?

German shepherd. No, she and the red/white dog are Thelma and Louise. They apparently just run around and kick each others' butts all day. It's really adorable watching two adolescent dogs who obviously live together doing the dance of playful sibling rivalry. They'll stop by and play awhile and whenever they sniff at the gate I let them ramble on. Our dog sometimes plays referee when she thinks it's getting a bit too rowdy. Very Swiss of her to stay neutral...

No, it's a Home Depot purchase that's just sat outside for a couple seasons. When I first started the project it was comical of me to think I'd use that for burning. Then thanks to a $90 ATV winch and some snatch blocks from Harbor Freight I started pulling whole trees out of the creek that weren't going to fit in that teeny chimanea. Fortunately we're just outside the city limits and unless there's a county burn ban we don't need a permit to burn.

The big wooden box is a 3 cubic yard compost bin I built with some reclaimed lumber from the property. The original owners and neighbors all had kids so they installed a zipline between the two properties that landed on this huge platform. The second owners also had kids but no desire to zipline so they built the pool. I've slowly used up the lumber on different projects. So, essentially, "I built this out of an old pallet."

What a wonderful gem you have there!

Thanks!

Our "Frogo Baggins" is becoming a bit of a pain in the baggins. I had one take up residence in a drain in the corner of my yard. The only issue is he (or she) likes to come out and sit in the grass. Now, whenever I cut the grass I have to do a pre-mow check for the frog. Ours is actually named Phineas the Frog - or so says my wife.

That video said it all! We came to play with you but wait there goes my sib so I will play with them  LOL

Do you have any idea where they live?

Hey it is good for s'mores!!
so they installed a zipline between the two properties
Does it still work?

I think it's 2 neighborhoods over. The doggos are famous on our neighborhood Facebook page. Wife even found the owner's number posted there. Everybody in the neighborhood even the little kids knows the doggos by name and apparently the owners aren't real concerned about them roaming around, because they don't always return calls promptly when neighbors have called to say, "hey your dogs are at my house, come get them." Don't get me wrong, they're well fed and obviously get regular grooming and tooth cleaning. They're incredibly friendly and don't act like they've been neglected in any way. Let 'em roam, I say. I've got yard work to do, not interested in delivering doggos to a home they're not accustomed to staying near.

Does it still work?

The zipline was removed long before we bought the house. Only the platform remained. Free lumber.
