Newbie pool owner and new to this thread. Looks like a great source for info. Got a problem on my hands and need some help. We have a 24000 gal inground cement with liner salt water pool. My wife had the chemistry checked at Leslie’s (never again) this past week. Alkalinity and ph was high. By mistake, they gave her soda ash instead of ph reducer. He added 10 pounds of it. Now we have a cloudy pool with white powder all over the bottom. Went to Lighthouse pools. They had me add ph decreaser. Been running the pump on high and backflushed milky water 2 times. Robot vacuum has been going for about 8 hours. Looking for some guidance and advice. Thank you.

Welcome to TFP from Ashtabula!!!

First, get a proper test kit. Do that today. Link-->Test Kits Compared

We need to understand exactly where your pool stands. When your kit arrives, post a full set of results.

There are VERY few times to use soda ash. Do not use pH down, use muriatic acid to lower pH.

Run the pump on low, it will filter better. Keep the robot going.

You will likely not find it at Leslie's or Litehouse in stock. You will need to order it.

Do not get another kit. Get one of the recommended kits. Many times, people don't read it, go get a kit, only to learn they got the wrong one and wasted money.
