Algae starting to form on walls and floor

CYA is added. So now I wait until the CYA level goes up before adding liquid chlorine?
No need. The CYA is in there, it just may not register on the test for 2-3 days. Go ahead and add as if CYA were the level you added it to be and get the SLAM going. :)

I know I read this somewhere but now I can't find it. I know I need to test a minimum of twice a day during the SLAM process. What is the minimum amount of time to wait to test FC after adding chlorine?

After about 15 minutes you should be good, but testing more than once an hour or so is probably not going to be productive and is going to use a lot of reagents. If you can test once every hour or two it's going to go as fast as it can. :)

Hi all! Y’all are awesome! I’m still in the SLAM process because I’ve either messed up or slacked a few times. But my pool water looks awesome! Thanks so much!

Over the last few days I’ve noticed some black looking stuff in the flaps where the vinyl liner is connected. I’ve tried scrubbing with the pool brush and it doesn’t budge. Is this black algae? Is it possible on a vinyl liner? I’m going to get in today and try scrubbing with a hand brush, just want to get on top of any problem that might be starting! 🥴 It’s not really spotted, looks more like shoe scuff marks but obviously no one has been in the pool with shoes lol.

Is it possible to get some photos of it to send?

Very strange. I don't think black algae can grow on a vinyl liner but I could be wrong. It's more likely to be staining. Do you fill from a well? It could be iron - try rubbing a vitamin C tablet on it and see if that lifts the stain.

Not well water…it’s rural water though, not sure if that matters. I’m in the pool now scrubbing, I’ve got a little off but some doesn’t even come off with my fingernail.

That's probably staining. Could be copper, too, if you've ever added any pool treatments that include copper in them. Test for that is dry acid in a sock rubbing over the stain.
