I’ve read through a bunch of threads about brown spots, greenish brown spots that poof away, dead algae , pollen. Everyone has an opinion about what it is. A lot of people can’t seem to get rid of it. I also notice the big dogs like mr manakkus, mc daggger, newdude and Texas splash all commented a couple times on the threads and seem to believe it’s an algae issue.
I found it hard to believe. My reasons why is my water is clear. I keep the chlorine within range of my cya. I assumed it was junk from all the trees and birds I have . I even have barely any chlorine loss overnight. I did a 24 hour mustard algae slam once . It’s against the ways preached here because I never completed a regular slam. So it was to no avail. The symptoms returned.
I must say I think you guys were right I just don’t understand how and why. I started a slam Sunday night. I’ve kept the fc within range (24ppm) for 50 cya. It’s been 2 full days now just about . I brush 2 times a day. The thing I’m witnessing is the spots are becoming smaller in size and less in abundance. So with the pool at slam level the problem seems to be going away. If you can help me understand a few questions I’d appreciate it.
1. Are the spots that are appearing during slam lever just stuff on the floor still growing from the floor surface or is it stuff in the water landing on the pool floor and beginning to grow until I brush it ?
2. Doing I continue the slam until I no longer see spots appearing on the floor ? That is my plan
3. After the slam is over and my pool is clean , floor and all , will keeping the fc at the proper level with cya prevent this from ever happening again ?
4. If I miss a tiny spot of algae for argument sake the size of a dime. Would a regular chlorine level be able to handle it or would this cycle start all over again ?
Thanks for the replies. I didn’t mean to not thank everyone because I appreciate everyone’s advice. Just wanted to mention the top guns and I’m sorry if I missed any. Oh and sorry for probably miss spelling g your names as well. Thanks everyone
