Air Pocket in Pump

I just had my pool redone last year. New liner and lines from the two jets.

It's been cool here at night and I put a solar blanket on every night.

I am thinking I might be losing more water than normal but am unsure. I just tried dye near the jets with the pool off and they did not appear to be sucking anything in.

When my pump is running on filter there is an air pocket inside the pump.

I just turned it to recirculate and there are zero air bubbles.

Is this a sign on a pipe leak?

If there are no bubbles in the pump pot during recirc, perhaps you have some unexpected resistance in the filter itself resulting in some back-pressure to the pump. Have you noticed a spike in filter pressure? Any chance you could share a set of water test results so we can see if organics might be part of the issue?

Thanks. I will keep an eye on the pressure. I don't have my last test but everything except the stabilizer was good and I added what was recommended. They didn't mention organics but they have in the past.

The area I am in is quite sandy so I am always battling sand and dirt. We have been using a robot since half way during last season as well as a sock and it keeps it pretty decent.

I tried the bucket test last week and didn't notice any huge discrepancies. I have the water line marked right now.

The weather has been all over the place. Cool at nights practically every night and a mixture of cloudy and hot days.

We had to replace the liner last year and now I am paranoid about a loss of an inch or so over the period of a week.

Sounds like you are having your water treated somewhere. If so, be careful about that. In the majority of cases, local free testing is flawed and never as accurate as if you did the testing yourself with a proper test kit. We hate to see new members going down the wrong path because of bad advice or testing.
