I have been maintaining my pool for the past couple of years. I cleaned the PEntair DE filter and put the hood and tightente the screw. Added DE. After that I didn't check on how the pool is doing for two days. I saw the water level go down. I turned of the pump from iaqualink. But next morning it started again and I lost some more water. After that I removed all programs from iAqualink and it seemed like I did not lose any water for 4 days. But after a another week I see an inch of water loss.

Not sure if it is leak or something. Need guidance and next steps on what to do. I live in texas and temperatures were in 80 for couple of days when I lost water while the pump was running. now its in low 60s max and high 30s min.

Please advise. Should I fill pool and re clean the filter and tighten it properly this and see if it is issue with filter ?

Or it is pool leak for sure. I just pray that it is not a pool leak. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars calling leak detection team and fixing it. What should I be doing.

Looking for help and hope here. Thanks

Have you check the backwash line? You could be sending water out the backwash line if the backwash valve is leaking. A picture of the equipment pad would help.

Where is the backwash line hard plumbed to? I can’t see where that pipe goes.

Follow the pipe to its discharge point and observe the line with the pump running in filter mode. You probably need to fill the pool back up to the skimmer. If water is running out of the backwash line then the plunger valve needs to be cleaned and serviced.

I am not sure how to find the discharge point.
Also if I am losing water by bypass, will I continue lose water even below skimmer level and we'll below jets. I lost about 20 inches of water.
