So I tracked down a good deal on a 1.5 hp pump a few years ago.. Little did I realize at the time a 2 speed would have been better.. oh well for $100 i'll make it work.
I currently run the intex pump/sand filter combo.. But it just doesn't have that ooomph for vacuuming. So I thought I would add the 1.5 for those purposes.

Should I spend the money on a 3 way valve? or just use a Tee and 2 valves in their lines
Is it a crazy idea to begin with?
I will eventually upgrade pump and filter to bigger, but hey I have this on hand now.

As another thought, I may use it to run water features if I decide to add those as well

What do you all think?

Yes, it won't work. You would be better off replacing the Intex pump all together. But the 1.5 HP pump may be too big for the Intex filter so you will need to replace that too.

Have you considered a robotic cleaner?
