frying my Pentair ScreenLogic Wireless interface. After pricing a new one at $150-$200 I decided to come up with a cheaper solution

Hi, I’d like to do this instead of replacing the Pentair equipment - recently getting “searching for system controller” and unable to connect. Pentair said I’d need a new one, and I’m out of the warranty period.
Is the general idea is to replace the protocol adapters (white and tan components) with just the $25 device from Amazon? Can someone please explain how to actually set this up? Would this device work? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4X7F6P...8-1492-4688-a6a5-a33d53bc8d48&aref=VDHKNnbTYv

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum!
It appears that will work. I use a TPLink Wireless Access. You will need to hard wire your Wireless Access to power in your (I assume EasyTouch) panel and the Protocol Adapter RS485 wires to a J20 block. Attach the ethernet from the Wireless Access to the Protocol Adapter. Then set up Screenlogic.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

You first should confirm if your Protocol Adapter is what's bad, or the wireless connection (transceivers).

Typical installation:
Indoors - the protocol adapter (PA) is the small white metallic box; the off-white plastic thing with 3 lights is the wireless transceiver (indoor). The antenna outside is your Outdoor wireless transceiver. The only thing the 2 wireless transceivers do is create a wireless link to the PA - instead of running a long 4 conductor cable between the outdoor Easytouch/Intellitouch and the PA . The PA is really what does all the translating (so to speak) from your Easytouch/Intellitouch to your ethernet router.
