Accidentally got my FC to 50

So I started a SLAM 2 days ago and my CYA was high 80. It was at 150. What prompted me to look here is we had already gone through 75lb of shock since opening at end of May. I did not know shock would raise CYA. Anyways this is all new for me. We have been fighting algae since opening. I ordered the Taylor k2006 and I am testing my own water now. So I decided to do a SLAM. I figured to raise my FC to 30 because CYA was 80. Anyways I guess I wasn’t paying attention and both me and my husband had added so twice as much went in and I didn’t know till I tested and then seen all LC had been used. So my question is do I need to do anything special or just wait for it to drop. Do I need to drain and add some fresh! Thanks for all the information I have already learned.

Don't fret, a one time high FC is not a big deal. It will burn off fairly quickly.

A SLAM at 80 CYA is difficult. If you can replace another 20% of the water, it will make it easier.

I have been working on doing a drop of 6 inches a day with refill for over 2 weeks before I decided to do slam. I can only drain that much at a time and we have a party tomorrow is reason I decided to try SLAm this week when it reached 80. I have been brushing morning an evening and algae comes back between brushes. Pool used to be in shade completely and 2 years ago had trees removed and that’s when algae problems started lol. But pool store has been killing me with what to do. I am so glad I found this site and wish I had sooner. Thank you

What exact product is the 75lbs of shock?

What test kit are you using?
It was Leslie’s brand shock and had purchased 2 of the 50lb within 2 months. I did not know it would raise the CYA. I thought you had to add stabilizer. When they told me to keep putting in 9 lbs for 2 weeks and then they said 16 lbs because problem wasn’t getting better I started researching. When opened pool CYA was 30 and they had me but stabilizer to raise it to 50. I did not know my head from my Rear in May. So glad I found this site. I have since purchased a Taylor K-2006 kit and am testing my own water and don’t plan to ever go back in there. Nearly $800 dollars in shock and we have vinyl liner and they said I needed calcium hardness that was $86 for 45 lbs and actually called for more but I o my purchase the one bucket and didn’t even know I didn’t need it…last year they had me purchase $100’s for No phos because it was supposedly too high. When I went back to get more and they were out, went to another pool store and guy told me I didn’t need it, lol. I’m so done with pool stores.
