Hi Y'all
I over wintered my above ground according to TFP methods for the first time last winter. Was super excited to see clear water, but probably opened it up too early Soooooo much spring wind & rain with tree debris but managed that well and the pool water was gorgeous. Then the ducks came and pooled hopped house to house pool to pool having babies for over a month. Nesting egrets were a problem a few streets over. I poured in a gallon of 12% bleach, put in the auto-pool sweeper, covered with solar cover, and hoped for the best.
Ducks & egrets have moved on, Adios!! I uncovered and found cloudy with some visible algae. Shocked twice, added dry acid to bring down pH, and let the pump run for several days just incase bird debris got in. Changed filter. Water is much less cloudy but not clear. No sign of algae.
FC : 15+ TC: 15+ pH: 7.6 TA:74 CH: 109 CYA: 77 I use Liquid Cl to sanitize.
I'm in DFW so we are at 80-90 degrees, still rainy, but lots more sun with 100+ degrees around the corner.
Why still cloudy? What else besides time, sun, and aeration?
Do I really have to drain to lower the CYA or is that level doable given the coming heat? I reread PoolSchool and checked PoolMath with nothing rec but lowering the CYA.
Thanks!
