Our pool contractor quoted Tahoe Blue in our build however we really want Tropics Blue because of the deeper aqua color and shimmer of the abalone shell. Upgrading from Tahoe blue to tropics blue (which ha abalone shell) upgrade fee $4K) 72’ x 22’ pool. Per Stonescapes manufacturer the abalone has a life expectancy for water sparkle of 5 years. Then it just looks like white specs. Has annyone experienced this? I haven’t found anyone to ask that’s had it very long. Thanks.

The abalone shell is the weakest ingredient of the plaster mixture.
I personally have not seen a life expectancy of only 5 years for the sparkle, almost all finishes chosen by customers have abalone shell in them due to the wanted sparkle.
The plaster company that I use hand throws the shell just before the last trowel so the product is all at the surface for the most effect, as far as the upgrade cost, I know it’s not costing $4K to have it hand thrown.IMG_5859.pngIMG_5860.pngIMG_5861.png

How long have you seen the sparkle last for?
