I've got a vacation trip  that I'll embark on for about 7 days- and I'm looking for some pool advice.
If my pool is balanced and looking good, then should I just dump a gallon of chlorine in, and then head off to the airport?
What's the easiest/best plan without finding a neighbor to come check on my pool?
Thanks.:D

I'm still a novice but I'll chime in until someone with more experience can assist.

Are you curretly following the TFP method of pool care? If not read everything in the pool school link above.

If you're going to be away for 7 days a gallon of liquid CL is not going to protect you - esp in AZ where I heard you can literally fry rocks on the sidewalk it's been so hot!
I'd use an automatic chlorinator and tri-chlor while you're away. Otherwise you'll come back to a swamp. Then when you return test your water and start back up with the BBB method.

We will be doing the same... taking a 7 day cruise so can't even really check in with the folks who will be checking our house. I've been following the TFP method since our new pool build in February. I test daily and add chemicals as needed... I've been logging my results and chem additions, so I'm planning on just using chlorine pucks while we're gone and adding enough Chlorine up front to compensate for the Chlorine loss over half a week and then having someone add in a gallon mid-week. I have no idea if this will work... but based purely on my numbers, it should??

Brand new pool owner here. Was concerned about this myself a few weeks ago. Just got back a week ago from a 6 day trip away. I brought my FC up to slam level and floated a couple of puck floaters before leaving and FC was 4ppm when I returned. All good. Will never use pucks except for this purpose. They came with the pool and haven't used them before this.

This is the very reason why I got the liquidator, which feeds chlorine to my pool automatically. You should get at least a week's worth of chlorine feed with the 8 gallon liquidator.
