To lower ph I need to use muriatic acid, but how long after adding chlorine is it safe to add muriatic acid? This also lowers my TA too? What does it mean to aerate to increase ph if I get it too low?
In the pool school this statement is made, but it doesn't say how long to wait.
"Do not add at the same time or mix muriatic acid and chlorine. Such interaction produces a toxic gas that is dangerous to health even in small amounts."
My ph is not accurate in the screenshot. I added a gallon of 12.5% sodium hypochlorite to get my chlorine up from 1ppm and it was dusk by the time we got back home.
