Coloring rock wall mortar

Does anybody have a recommendation for the best way to color the existing mortar on my moss rock wall? It has always been lighter than the rocks and the sun seems to have whitened it even more. I prefer the joints to be more brown to blend in with the rocks.

I know you can buy colors to mix in while setting the mortar but I'm not sure what can be used to coat/paint the surface after it is cured.

I would think air brush painting, like they do for fake rock waterfalls.

They sell colored additive for cement/grout. Home Depot sells it in the cement section.

A little late for that in this case ... as the OP stated

I suppose you could try to put another colored layer on.
