Call me the rookie of the group but we recently bought a 22ft salt water pool its has been up for 2 weeks and levels have been what the manual considers normal but getting extreme calcium build up. The pool is getting cloudy and even starting to plug up the pump system and when we brush the plastic cover for the pump with vinegar it instantly fizzes. What do we need to do to correct this issue. i hate to just start dumping in chemicals that may harm my family.

I am unclear why there is buildup on top of the pump? Shouldn't that stay dry?
I wonder if you need to backwash your pump? Could it be clogged up?
