See photos of the 2 check valves we have with clear plastic--these have had visible algae (green) in them ever since the pool was built last summer and we had an algae outbreak. We have shocked twice and follow TFP method for maintaining pool successfully, but don't like that I visible SEE algae in here and today noticed the spot has gotten bigger! The valves have the same screw off type connector that is on our SWG for removal and inspection.
Question can and should we remove these and clean and if so clean with bleach solution and maybe pipe cleaners to stick in there?? Any worries with doing this??
Thanks all!
Tammy

So I went out on a limb and just went ahead and unscrewed them--easy-peasy! The spa return started draining (hence the reason for a check valve there!) and I stood there trying to figure out what to stop it up with while I soaked my valves and..wella!! A small pool noodle fit exactly--I shoved it in an inch or so and it held for the few hours I needed it to!
Soaked them in a diluted bleach solution until the green algae spots were completely gone--then left them in another hour for good measure. The visible green is now gone and I reinstalled them no issues. Mostly I feel better cause that really bugged me still seeing visible algae in a piece of pool equipment!
