I need to replace my sand in my filter but I can't locate the funnel guide that keeps the standpipe centered. Is there something else I can use to accomplish this before I order a new one.

My first question is, why do you think you need to replace the sand? In all but a very very few instances the sand never requires replacing.
In order to answer your question we need to know the make and model of the filter.
If you really need to replace it, I'd take a colander with large openings and cut it to fit the opening. You can tape the top of the pipe to keep the sand out.
