We purchased a new sand filter due to a large crack in our old one. After redoing all the plumbing and putting new sand in the new filter we connected the multi port valve but only to find the top of th sand filter vessel is uneven by about 1/8 of an inch in one side. So it leaks. Ugh! Is there some sort of self leveling gasket or is the vessel a lemon?

Did you lube the O ring?
If not this will cause it not to seat properly and leak.

Yes we did but the problem is that the o-ring doesn't have a flat even surface to sit on top of. The flange is uneven..:seems defective. Is there some sort of self forming gasket? The oring won't seal bc there's a gap.
It may sound over simplified, but perhaps you cross threaded just a bit. Easy to do that on my SF top.
