when to run the pump

I have a SWG and a heat pump. Should I run the pump 8am-8pm to generate chlorine during the day, or should I run it 8pm-8am to maintain the pool temp via the heat pump (and pool cover) at night?
The pool company told me to run during day but I don't trust them with anything anymore!
 
There are some advantages to running the SWG during the day while the sun is shining on the pool. Unless there is some other reason not to run the pump during the day, like time of day electric rates that are higher during the day, program the pump to run while the sun is shining on the pool.
