Timing Questions

Hey guys,

I had a couple general questions regarding recommended timing on chemicals.

1) How long do I wait after adding chemicals before adding other chemicals of different types?

2) How long do I run my pump after adding chemicals to make sure the water is ran through enough?

3) How long do I wait after adding chemicals before retesting?

4) How long to wait to swim after adding chemicals?

In general, just 30 to 45 minutes with the pump running throughout.

If you are adding Chlorine/bleach in normal doses 30 minutes is fine. If you are adding Chlorine at SLAM levels, you will need to confirm you are in range for your CYA levels before getting in the pool.

Do not test Ph if your Clorine level is above 10ppm as FC levels above 10 mess up the Ph test.

For all of the waits, 30 minutes for liquid chemicals, an hour for solid/powdered/granular chemicals. Except that salt should be 24 hours, and CYA should be a week before testing and neither requires a wait before swimming.

i dont add calcium hardness and baking soda on same day
i once added them too close together (as in immediately) and it made my water cloudy for days
