I had some old gate valves on my pool and spa suction that went bad and started letting air into the strainer basket, filter etc. At one point it got so bad that the pump lost prime and ran dry for a while, not sure how long. I've since had the suction lines re-plumbed with new 3-way valves. No more air in the strainer basket, nice and clear in there, but my cartridge filter is filling with air and I constantly have to bleed it off out of the pressure relief valve.
Thankfully the pump still sounds okay, but I assume some of the seals have gone bad from running it dry and / or age and are now letting air into the system. I don't see any leaks. When I switch the pump off I hear some gurgling either in the filter or perhaps the pump, and see some air in the basket, but it doesn't completely drain down or lose prime.
I saw a video on youtube for disassembling the pump, impeller, seals, etc. and it looks like something I could probably take on.
Two questions:
1) Based on these symptoms do you think replacing all the seals from an overhaul/rebuild kit would fix my issue?
2) Can you tell me if my max-e-glass ii 1HP P4E6E-187L (on the pump housing) is a pre-98 which as I understand has the copper bushing, or post-98 which does not? Apparently it matters when ordering the repair kit.
Pool parts online has a matrix that suggests to me that my pump does not have the copper insert as it shows my model in the left column, and on the right column where it states copper inserts it show (-151L). I assume that means P4E6E-151L has copper insert and mine does not.

Thanks for your help!
