Pool light bulb

I have been fighting a pool light problem for a few weeks. First thought was bad bulb so I replaced it. After it not working, I replaced a faulty GFCI. It still do not work. Well I happened to grab the box for the new bulb and noticed it was for a 12 volt and not 120 volt. The pool store gave me the wrong one and I do not catch it. Could I have damaged my light or do you think just changing to the correct bulb will solve it? I feel stupid now though.

The 12v bulb would have lasted about as long as a flashbulb when 120v was applied. Shouldn't have damaged anything, just blew the bulb immediately.
