CYA and solar cover

I have a solar cover that is put on the pool every night. All week the solar cover stays on the pool until around 3pm when I get home from work. If it works the way "they" say it does it should protect the chlorine from the sun. If this logic is true, would it be safe to assume that I can maintain CYA on the low side to have to use less chlorine? Just wondering

You can use mildly lower CYA levels when the pool is covered nearly all the time, but there isn't any real reason to do so. And you don't want to let CYA get too low or that one day you leave the cover off will use up all the chlorine.
