Im in the UK and we have a small outdoor pool. I currently have strips, a palintest kit where you drop a tablet in and a aquachek Trutest handheld reader. Im getting completely different readings for TA from the handheld reader and the other two testers and im struggling as to which to trust. I cant justify buying a large semi pro testing product.

Welcome to TFP!

While we can't suggest the normal kit for you being in the UK, you should be able to obtain something more proper for Free Chlorine and pH. Test strips will get you in trouble at some point. They are simply not reliable enough to depend on. pH and Free Chlorine are far more important than TA in a pool such as yours. Most of them in fact.
