I ran a bucket test over the weekend because the pool has been losing water a bit faster than normal (but the weather has also been hotter) so I just wanted to convince myself everything was ok.
I made sure the water level in the bucket was the same as in the pool. The next morning, the bucket had floated away (presumably because more water evaporated out of it, than out of the pool).
So I added a brick to the bucket, evened out the water level and tried again. Once again the water in the bucket seems to be evaporating more quickly.
This would seemingly be a good result, but why is it happening? The bucket is orange plastic--could the color be causing the water to heat up faster than my white/light blue pool plaster?
Weird stuff.
