I just purchased a home with an outdoor pool The chlorine level is very high, the ph level is low, and yellow spots are appearing on the bottom. What should I do?
Telling us something is high or low doesn't really tell us anything. We prefer numbers.
Can you post a set of test results and how you go them
pH
FC
CC
TA
CH
CYA
That will help greatly in figuring out your problem.
Also, if you'll tell us more about your pool and equipment. That will help. Putting it in your sig is the best way.
Who added the chlorine? I would guess that someone put a lot of dichlor chlorine powder into the pool as that would drive the FC high and the pH low ... what it also does is raise the stabilizer (CYA) up, and when that gets too high you start to have problems.
Like Dave said, post up some numbers, prefereably from one of the Recommended Test Kits because pool store testing and test strips are worthless.
Please add your pool details to your signature and location to your profile as described HERE as it will help us help you.
