When I filled up my pool, using city water, I had lots of sand in my water and the vacuum I currently have will not work to pick it up because the sand is so fine. Would like suggestions for a new vacuum without spending a lot of money. I have an Intex Ultra 18' x 48". I still have the original pump that came with it which I also need to upgrade but can only do one thing at a time, spent a lot of money getting the ground leveled. Thanks!

Which pump/filter did your intex come with?

What vacuum do you have?

Most likely your pump is small for a suction side vacuum. Any other type of vacuum (pressure or robot) is going to cost a lot, so a pump upgrade and cheap suction side vacuum head like the triangle in this pic: http://www.troublefreepool.com/images/ve/WATERWORT-ManualVacuum.jpg may be your best choice.
